History Newsletter (2015)

Excerpt:

Thanks to a lot of work by Susan Chan, each TCCC program now has its own blog/newsletter. I am very pleased to use the inaugural issue of the History Program blog to discuss TCCC’s exciting plans for spring of 2016.

Starting March 19, 2016, TCCC will host “I Want the Wide American Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story,” produced by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and the Smithsonian’s Asian Pacific American Center. This groundbreaking exhibition catalogues the history of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States in a 30 banner display. It includes the topics we all love, like food and music, as well as those that are hard to discuss, like exclusion and Japanese internment.   A mobile app is available, allowing viewers to hear short talks by experts while viewing the exhibition.
