TUCSON CHINESE ASSOCIATION

 

The Tucson Chinese Association strives to promote Chinese heritage, culture, language, and to encourage the aspirations of the next generation of Chinese Americans.  The Tucson Chinese Association has established three scholarship categories.

 

Tucson Chinese Association Leadership Scholarship

 

Type of scholarship:  Organizational

 

Deadline:  Application will be accepted February 28

 

Maximum Value:  $500.00

 

Number of awards:  2 each calendar year

 

Awards are available for:  High School students for use while in high school

 

Description:  Awards limited to United States citizens of Chinese ancestry who are residents of Arizona.  Preference will be given to residents of Tucson, Arizona.  The program will provide scholarships to increase leadership skills.  Candidates may apply for this scholarship directly or be nominated by a school official and subsequently asked to apply.  Award amount may vary.  Recipient will be notified by March 30.

 

Tucson Chinese Association Study Abroad Scholarship

 

Type of scholarship:  Organizational

 

Deadline:  Applications will be accepted February 28

 

Maximum Value:  $ 750.00

 

Number of Awards:  2 each calendar year

 

Awards are available for: High School students for use while in high school

 

Description:  Awards limited to United States citizens of Chinese ancestry who are Arizona residents.  Preference will be given to residents of Tucson, Arizona.  The program will provide scholarships to students who wish to study in Asia.  The length of study may vary from weeks to a full year.  The study is intended to enhance a students’ understanding and experience of Asian culture and language.  Candidates apply for this scholarship directly.  Recipient will be notified by March 30.

 

Tucson Chinese Association Skill/Talent Development Scholarship

 

Type of scholarship: Organizational

 

Deadline: Application will be accepted twice per year: February 28

 

Maximum Value: $500.00

 

Number of Awards: 2 each calendar year

 

Awards are available for: High School students for use while in high school

 

Description:  Awards limited to United States citizens of Chinese ancestry who are residents of Arizona.  Preference will be given to residents of Tucson, Arizona.  The program will provide scholarships to increase occupation skills and training.  Candidates may apply for this scholarship directly or be nominated by a school official and subsequently asked to apply.  Award amount may vary.  Recipient will be notified by March 30.
